document.writeln('reason for this sad situation is soft laws – inadequate punishment');
document.writeln('and weak deterrence. This party offers no attention to root causes');
document.writeln('of youth violence but just wants to punish.');

document.writeln('teens from a poorly funded housing project. They consider breaking');
document.writeln('in to a school and spray-painting. Then one remembers... “Oh but');
document.writeln('Section 14, Paragraph 3, Subsection 2 of the new law says we could be');
document.writeln('charged with vandalism and spend 6 months in jail. Let\'s think this');
document.writeln('over... maybe we should go bowling instead!”</big></p>');

document.writeln('deterrence ever been proved effective? This flyer supports the view');
document.writeln('of responding to violence with a different form of violence. Surely');
document.writeln('we can do better than this. Surely we can look for ways to deal with');
document.writeln('root causes while helping these offenders get on a better track.</big><font');

document.writeln('Khadr. Well, higher ground requires a bit of a climb, but if we are');
document.writeln('not prepared to make that effort we may sink to the lower ground of');
document.writeln('fear and retaliation. Surely Omar Khadr should not be punished for');
document.writeln('the views of his father or his family. He may not be a hero, but he');
document.writeln('deserves to be brought back to Canada quickly to receive the fair');
document.writeln('trial he is denied in the US.</big></p>');
