In Psalm 25, we read, “All the paths of the Lord are steadfast');
document.writeln('love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his');
document.writeln('decrees.” Then the next line is, “For your name’s sake,');
document.writeln('O Lord, pardon my guilt, for it is great.”
');
document.writeln('');
document.writeln('

document.writeln('');
document.writeln('
The psalmist seems to know that, even though the Lord chooses');
document.writeln('paths of steadfast love and faithfulness for us, Lord knows, we stray. We');
document.writeln('seriously stray. We turn our attention to ourselves alone, without regard');
document.writeln('for others; and then we blame them to make ourselves feel better. Or, we');
document.writeln('seek to fulfill our yearnings with busy-ness, or making money, or with');
document.writeln('stimulating experiences, yet something within still is empty.
');
document.writeln('');
document.writeln('

document.writeln('');
document.writeln('
These and others shortcomings of the human spirit must be expected');
document.writeln('by God: we cannot always steadfastly love God or others. It helps');
document.writeln('our spirits to confess our failures to God, and trust God to pardon us. ');
document.writeln('People will not always pardon us, even when we ask. Sometimes it is');
document.writeln('difficult to pardon ourselves. God, though, pardons even our great guilt.');
document.writeln('
